This purple hydrangea left from last week’s vase seems to have gotten even darker. It’s a wonderful hydrangea which stays purple even in our acid soil – all of our other hydrangeas go BlueBlueBlue as soon as they get their roots down. This one has dark leaves as well – I think it could be called Brunette but that’s a guess as it came to me as a cutting from C’s Aunt.
I’ve just added some Poet’s Jasmine (Jasmine officinale var Grandiflorum), Star Jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides) and a few Iceberg Roses.
Despite snow and rain in the Northern hemisphere, blooms and vases can still be found every Monday at Rambling in the Garden.
I was looking forward to a taste of summer with your vase and I wasn’t disappointed; it’s really beautiful.
It’s a real pick-me-up to see your beautiful flowers. The rich hydrangea is a heart-stopper.
Your purple hydrangea is unusual and stunning and I agree with others that is is lovely to be reminded that it is summer on the other side of the world.
Two of my favorites blue/purple hydrangea and jasmine neither of which grows in my garden….hydrangeas stay pink in my alkaline soil and we are too cold for jasmine. Your vase is bringing me wonderful summer warmth in my winter.
Thank you for this sweet breath of summer. I’m certain that it smells as good as it looks.
I am not a huge hydrangea fan but this colour is stupendous and makes it look like something completely different – it looks wonderful contrasted with the white jasmine and trachelospermum and the foliage
The deep purple hydrangea is beautiful. But I do love jasmine and I can almost smell it. Beautiful.
What a great hydrangea!
Lovely combination Cath, and all the more enjoyable as we shiver here in southern Germany with snow and sleet!
Lovely, I must find that Jasmine!
The contrast with the dark Hydrangea and the whites is stunning.
I love jasmine – your arrangement must smell divine!
gorgeously rich!
So beautiful and just what I needed on this cold day.
Thank you all for your lovely comments 😊
